On our way to the most beautiful of waterfalls, it began to rain a bit. We had 6 people in a 1960-something Toyota Land Cruiser [way crappier than you're imagining], and I was dirving the second car following Fr. Basil, our tour guide and Monk friend for the day.
We came upon a magnificent cliff overlooking miles and miles of forest and mountain, and as we came around the corner the back end started sliding out and we started to spin. I believe I let out an 'Oh Shit,' and the people in the car tried to brace themselves as much as one can without seatbelts or any safety considerations of any kind.
Still on the road, we came to a stop. Having completed an almost 360 degree turn at 40mph, we found ourselves facing what esentially would have been, for all practical purposes, the last thing we would have ever seen: thousands of miles of beautiful Guatemalan countryside. As far as last things to ever see, it ranked pretty high on the scale.
Be careful!
